About Tommy Hong

Can you describe a typical day or week in the job?

Meeting with stakeholders (i.e., clients, contractors, and internal project team, etc.) to address project requirements, progress, and challenges. Collaborate with engineers and designers to complete deliverables. Perform quality control by reviewing drawings and/or documents prior to issuing to the client.

What’s the one thing people should know about Project Management?
Effective communication is paramount for project success and client satisfaction.

What do you love about your field of work?
I enjoy working in the oil & gas industry because I contribute to the delivery of a necessity – energy – to the public. Not only is this important but also impactful, as it directly affects the everyday lives of people. Furthermore, I love working in a team environment designing safe and cost-efficient energy delivery systems. This may involve complex technical and logistical challenges but having a team that is passionate about finding creative solutions can make the work both challenging and rewarding.

What do you do for fun?
In my free time, I enjoy coaching and playing soccer.

Advice for anyone wanting to get in your field?
Prioritizing career growth and personal development over short-term financial gain or job title.
