Guatemala got its independence from Spain on September 15, 1821. It is a national holiday and the largest holiday festival takes place in Quetzaltenango.

Tajamulco Volcano is the highest point in Guatemala, at 4,220m. Guatemala is home to 33 volcanoes spread throughout the highlands.

Guatemala’s inexpensive and delicious food and drinks are influenced by its Mayan and Spanish cultures. The climate also allows them to produce an abundance of tropical fruit.
