SoCal Gas

The Ventura Compressor Replacement Project provides for replacement of existing natural gas engine compressors installed in the 1990’s with new, larger natural gas engine-driven reciprocating compressors capable of meeting newly enacted air emissions criteria.
The new equipment is larger due to increased demand on the pipelines downstream of the station for underground storage injection and gas utility services. The new Ventura Plant 2 facilities will include four (4) engine-driven reciprocating gas compressors of approximately 1,900 HP each.
The new facilities will have new suction and discharge liquid knock-out separators, discharge gas coolers, instrument/utility air systems and an auxiliary generator. The facility is located in an urban area with multiple public buildings and residential structures as close as “across the street”.
UPI’s responsibility is to serve as an Owner’s Engineer assisting in the development of process and instrument/control description and philosophy narratives, process flow diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams. Assistance will include Owner’s Engineering services through at least the completion of FEED and possibly through the EPC effort.
